Shehab Marzban

Chairman

Dr. Shehab Marzban is the Senior Advisor for Economic Affairs to the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation in his Capacity as Strategic Advisor with the African Development Bank. Prior to that, Dr. Marzban was Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs at the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation.

Before joining the public sector, Dr. Marzban was the Co-Founder of Shekra Crowdfunding and SME Development. He served as a Senior Consultant at the World Bank focusing on Islamic MSME finance and venture capital strategies in the MENA region. Dr. Marzban is also a visiting professor at IMD Business School in Switzerland, Zayed University in the UAE, and Durham University in England. His areas of specialization include: MSME and startups development; crowd-funding; venture capital development; developmental projects and finance; Islamic finance; fund management; and decision support models.

Mohamed Rahmy

MD, Endeavor Egypt

Mohamed is part of the Endeavor team where he’s been in the Egypt Managing Director role since 2016. Mohamed is originally a corporate banker and an economist with 10+ years of experience in some of MENA's top financial institutions including AAIB, EFG-Hermes and Beltone Financial. He holds a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo and a MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies with a focus on Economic Development of the Middle East from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Ahmed Gomaa

Mr. Gomaa has over 25 years of experience financing startups and early stage companies in Egypt. Mr Gomaa was one of the earlier VCs in Egypt and the Mena region. Part of the catalyst group who established entrepreneurship initiatives in Egypt and the region. Mr Gomaa introduced the first Business Plan Competition to Egypt in 2005 in collaboration with the Government to mark the era of entrepreneurship initiatives in Egypt. Mr Gomaa was part of the team that managed the first technology fund in Egypt and managed four other technology funds with assets under management of $150 million when he was in EFG Hermes. Mr Gomaa was the CEO of Ideavelopers for 5 years and the CEO of GroFin Egypt for 2 years where he financed SMEs in Egypt. Mr Gomaa has been active player in the Mena region entrepreneurship’s ecosystem advising over entrepreneurs for over a decade as part of the ASTF foundation. Mr Gomaa served as a board director in 40 companies, reviewed over 1000 SME business plans and advised over entrepreneur 300. Earlier in his career Mr Gomaa was a credit officer financing SMEs at American Express Bank Egypt. Mr Gomaa has a BA from Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand.

Heba Ali

Managing Director

Heba Ali has over a decade of experience leading innovative organizations that develop and foster startups and ecosystems across multiple sectors, as well as extensive expertise in strengthening the role of entrepreneurship as a socio- economic development catalyst.

Ms. Ali particularly focuses on high-impact entrepreneurship, venture capital, business model and institutional innovation, and ecosystem development. Ms. Ali previously served as Partner at Endure Capital, and Senior Entrepreneurship Advisor at Mercy Corps. Ms. Ali was also consultant at IBM and GIZ, and was part of the founding team of Endeavor Egypt. She is Co-Founder of T20 Association, serves on the board of AYB for Sustainable Development, and is an active member of the AmCham’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Committee. Ms. Ali has an MSc from the LSE and a BSc from the German University in Cairo.

Prior to joining Egypt Ventures, Ms. Farrag served as an analyst at CI Capita, where she gained experience in asset management, assisting her team in managing the portfolios and making investment decisions. Ms .Farrag has a strong passion for entrepreneurship, social impact, and economic development.

Commanding 13 years of experience in the field of private equity investment and government advisory, Ahmed has executed growth capital and turnaround investments across a number of sectors including healthcare, industrial products, retail and oil services

Yassine El Oraby

Mr Oraby has an extensive business leadership background with 20 years of experience in startups and mature businesses. He participated and managed merger processes in Algeria, Egypt and Pakistan, from a business, political and regulatory aspects. He has board experience in several countries such as Algeria, BVI, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.

Hassan Al-Attas

Eng. Hassan Al-Attas is the head of the Saudi side in the management committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia grant to the Arab Republic of Egypt to support small and medium enterprises. Mr. Al-Attas has served as General Manager of Operations for the Saudi Development Fund for more than 13 years. Mr. Al-Attas also served as Director General of the Real Estate Development Fund in the Kingdom during the last period 'in addition to his membership in the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Fund.

Engineer Al-Attas holds a master's degree in engineering and construction management from the United States of America in 1981 and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in the Kingdom in 1978. He attended several training courses in the fields of engineering, management, accounting and information technology inside and outside the Kingdom. Mr. Al-Attas a member of the Saudi Engineers Association, a member of the US Engineers Committee and a member of the Project Managers Committee in the United States.

Youssri Helmy

Youssri Helmy is a proven entrepreneur, angel investor, and mentor who has successfully co-founded, operated and exited several startups globally. He has over 25 years of experience in the fields of engineering, product management, marketing, and business development in a wide range of technologies. Mr. Helmy currently serves as Co-founder and CEO to Eonite Perception Inc, a 3D mapping and tracking company. Before Eonite, he was a General Partner at Rising Tide Fund, a global seed and early-stage venture capital fund based in Silicon Valley. In addition, Mr. Helmy boasts a strong track record cofounding and serving as Chairman of IdealRatings and serving as CEO and Chairman of ITWorx prior to that.

Gehan Saleh

Prof. Gehan Saleh is an economics advisory for the Egyptian Prime Minster. She is professor of financial Economics and International Business. She is a former dean of College of International Transport and Logistics at the Arab Academy of Science and Technology. Former board member of the Egyptian holding company of food processing. Dr. Saleh also worked as an economic consultant for the Egyptian Federation of chamber of commerce, Consultant for the ministry of internal trade and supply chain. Consultant for the ministry of Transportation. She has a P .D degree and a Master's degree in economics and finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also holds a Masters of Arts in International and Development Economics from the American University in Cairo. She worked as an Economics Professor at Northwestern University and Loyola University in the United States. Prof. Saleh also worked as a researcher with the IMF, the World Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank in the United States. She has led and participated in various projects and research with the EU and USAID. Over the years, she participated in a number of consultancy projects for the Middle East and the United States. She has also received various awards for her achievements in research and Education.

Hossam Abu Moussa

Mr. Hossam Abu Moussa has over 10 years of experience in private equity. Mr. Abou Moussa joined Actis in 2006, taking on responsibility for originating, executing and managing transactions in the Financial Services and Industrials sectors in Egypt and North Africa. Before that Mr. Abu Moussa worked at EFG-Hermes Private Equity where he was part of an Egypt-focused buyout fund. Mr. Abu Moussa is a CFA Charter holder and has an MBA from Oxford and a BA in business administration and finance from the American University in Cairo.

Sherif Samy

Mr. Samy is the former President of the Board at Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority and served as its Chairman. He also served on the board of the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) for several terms. Prior to joining EFSA, Mr. Samy was the managing director of Misr Capital, the investment arm of Banque Misr, managing a private equity portfolio of nearly $2 billion as well as two large mutual funds. He was also a board member of Banque du Caire, the SME Development Fund in addition to numerous listed and privately held companies operating in the capital market, textile, urban development, engineering, education, logistics and mining sectors.

Nermine El Tahri

Nermine El-Tahri, Joined the CBE in May 2016 since then she has been leading the CBE SME initiative with the local banks, private & public sector entities, local & international organizations and governmental ministries. Nermine returned to Egypt from the United Kingdom in 2007, shortly thereafter, she joined Banque du Caire as General Manager of Business Development. During her tenure she has successfully contributed to the banks unsurpassed portfolio growth and profitability by revitalizing and launching new pioneering products, optimizing the existing infrastructure, maximizing employee effectiveness and enhancing customer satisfaction.

The previous decade, Nermine worked for American Express in the United Kingdom as Vice President Franchise Markets responsible for Business Development across the EMEA for the Global Network Services group, where she managed Joint Venture partnerships in Switzerland, Belgium and the Middle East, Independent Operator relationships in Denmark, Norway, Turkey, Greece and South Africa, also, Network Partnerships in France and Ireland. During 1990-1995 Nermine worked for Citibank Canada, from 1986 - 1990 the Financial and Marketing Analyst for Xerox Egypt and 1983-1986 Financial Analyst for The Egyptian Financial Group (EFG) in Egypt. Throughout her career Ms. El Tahri‘s achievements have consistently been appreciated and recognized. She is the recipient of numerous diverse Global & European Awards by American Express for Business Development & Transformation, Outstanding Performance, Innovation and Customer Commitment. Nermine was granted the CitiTops Excellence Award in 1991 for Citibank Canada and Excellence Award in 1986 from Xerox Egypt. Nermine was on the Board of Directors of the United Bank and Micro, Small and Medium enterprises Agency (MSMEDA) and now sits on the Board of Trustees of Nile University. Nermine holds a BA in accounting and business administration from the Cairo University, equated from the University of Toronto.

Ahmed Khalifa

Dr. Ahmed Khalifa has over 30 years of experience in Asset Management, Private Equity, and Investment Banking with several multinational organizations in the Middle East and North America. The success story of Helwan Cement company (Egypt), and its complete restructuring process was a case study in several business schools worldwide. Dr. Khalifa was CEO during the turnaround phase. From 2009 till end of 2019, Khalifa was Group CEO of GCC Capital that incorporated and managed 3 private equity funds and an investment banking company in the MENA region. During Second half of 2008, Dr. Khalifa co-founded and led as CEO Cemena Holding (The industrial & Mining Fund of Gulf Finance House in Bahrain) where he was in charge of all business development and equity fundraising activities ($800M).

From 2004 till June 2008, Dr. Khalifa was CEO of ASEC cement Holding (the main Industrial group of Citadel Capital Group) and he led its expansion plan in the MENA region. He was Chairman and CEO of Arab National Cement Company in Egypt, Altakamul Cement Company in Sudan, Zahana Cement Company and Djelfa Cement Company in Algeria, ASEC Syria Cement Company- Syria, and ASEC Kurdistan Cement Company - Iraq. The aforementioned companies have a combined grinding capacity of more than 12 MTA of cement. Dr. Kalifa’s professional track record before 2004 included Fonun Entertainment Fund (the first Entertainment Fund in MENA region - $140M) and Arthur Andersen & Co in Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and France where he performed several financial service assignments for different clients in the sectors of Real estate, Automotive, Retail, Banking, Industrial, and Logistics. His combined assets management, investment banking and legal experience also includes him serving as Director of Structured Investments for Pitney Bowes Credit Corporation in Montreal, Canada.

Abdelrahman Mansour

Principal

Prior to joining Egypt Ventures, AbduRahman served as a Senior Associate at Omega Capital, a Cairo-based private equity company focused on mid-cap company investments. There, he was leading the investment team focusing their investments on multiple sectors within Egypt. The three years prior, he had worked at a management consulting company based in Montreal, Canada which he co-founded. The company was focused on transactions in South America and North America. AbdulRahman has a BSc in Finance and MBA from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
